Creation of Public Endowment Funds

In South Dakota Cities, Counties, School District and any other political subdivision may create an endowment fund.     The governing body may transfer any gift or donation to the endowment fund.   The interest earned from the revenue in an endowment fund may be spent for any legal purpose. The principal, however, may be spent only after a public hearing and passage of a resolution passed for that purpose.
