Meierhenry Sargent History

George J. Danforth, a reputable Sioux Falls lawyer, founded the partnership in 1903. Known throughout his career for his excellent trial and appellate skills, Danforth apprenticed some of the finest lawyers in South Dakota today. He was joined by his son, George John Danforth, Jr. in 1934 who became was South Dakota's first nationally recognized bond lawyer.

In 1987, Mark V. Meierhenry and Todd Meierhenry joined the firm. Mark came to the firm after an eight year tenure as Attorney General of South Dakota. As Attorney General, Mark Meierhenry zealously represented the interest of the State taking six cases to the United States Supreme Court. The Honorable Judith Meierhenry joined the firm in 1988 after being South Dakota Secretary of Education, South Dakota Secretary of Labor and Citibank legal department. She left the firm after being appointed Second Judicial Court Judge. Sabrina Meierhenry joined the firm in 1989.

Clint Sargent joined the firm in 1998 after interning with the firm for a summer. Patrick Glover joined the firm in 2006 after interning with the firm.  Bill Blewett joined the firm in 2008.

Today, the firm strives to preserve its size by representing a select number of clients, specializing in trial practice and various aspects of business law. Our goals are to provide our clients with creative and thorough representation and to serve our community with pride.

The firm invites and enjoys acting as local counsel for firms with periodic business in the courts of South Dakota.
