Christopher Healy has been with Meierhenry Sargent since 2013. Chris grew up on his family’s grain and cattle farm near Utica, South Dakota, and after graduating from Yankton High School he attended the University of South Dakota where he received a B.S. in Political Science in 2010 and a J.D. in 2013. While in Law School Chris was a member of the USD Trial Team and completed internships with the Yankton County State’s Attorney’s Office and the Office of Governor Dennis Daugaard as a legal intern.
Chris’s practice is focused on representing plaintiffs in various types of civil cases. He has represented landowners in property rights matters including drainage, inverse condemnation, and eminent domain. He has represented clients against the State of South Dakota, a number of cities and counties, public utilities and pipeline companies. In 2014, Chris was a part of the litigation teams that received a $1.2 million jury verdict for five families whose homes had been destroyed by flood waters backed up by a State Highway and a $550,000 jury verdict for property owner’s whose commercial real estate had been damaged by a highway construction project.
Chris works closely with Mark Meierhenry, former South Dakota Attorney General and one of the state’s most reputable trial attorneys, on a plethora of real estate and landowner rights matters. Chris is licensed to practice in South Dakota and the United States District Court, District of South Dakota. In his free time Chris enjoys following sports and spending time outdoors.
